The plasma cutting method is designed to separate materials across the entire thickness, length and shape of the cutting line, perpendicular to the surface of the material. The basic features of the plasma cutting process include the quality and speed of cutting, bevelling and parameters, as well as the way of punching during the commencement of cutting.

Plasma cutting consists in melting and ejecting material from the gap with a highly concentrated plasma arc glowing between an infusible copper electrode with integrated hafnium and the workpiece. The plasma arc reaches a very high temperature and is often referred to as the fourth state of matter,

therefore, the versatile use of all electrically conductive materials as well as materials coated with varnish or galvanic coatings in cutting. The plasma arc heats the material and the compressed air flow supplied to the plasma burner removes the liquid material from the gap in the material to be cut. Cutting with plasma devices can be used in manual and mechanised stations.

The advantages of plasma cutting are as follows:

  • high quality and speed of cutting
  • small heat affected zone
  • small cutting gap
  • wide range of cut materials
  • trouble-free further machining.
